Las Vegas has claimed the title of "America's playground" for generations.
And still they come. Yet it was not gambling that first caused people to
settle in this pleasant little valley, but the Mormon Church, which first
created a mission here in 1855. The Mormons' first attempts at settlement
failed, but gradually, as the Civil War ended and Indian raids no longer
posed a significant threat, the tiny town once more began to grow. And so
it continued, until gambling was legalized in the State of Nevada in 1931.
Today, Las Vegas is one of the fastest-growing cities in the US; so come enjoy the excitment! Click on an image to enlarge
